RIYADH: Austrian expats, teamed up with the Austrian National Tourist Office, organized a roadshow together with Emirates Airlines to promote holidays in Austria for the coming summer season.
Austria has been the fastest growing European tourist destination in the Middle East. The number of guests from the Middle East to Austria has increased by 400 percent in the last 10 years.
Klaus Ehrenbrandtner, director Middle East of the Austrian National Tourist Office, said: “In 2016, Austria welcomed 105,000 guests from the Kingdom who generated a total of 342.000 overnights, registering an increase of plus 170 percent in the last five years.”
The Austria tourism roadshow started on Sunday in the presence of Austrian Ambassador Gregor W. Koessler and Austrian Trade Commissioner Kurt Altmann.
Addressing the guests, Koessler said: “Increased travel to Austria by our Saudi friends is not only welcome in economic terms. More importantly, it is through travel that we collect experiences and better understanding for each other.”
The group of exhibitors included Vice President of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce Andrea Stifter who supports the tour which will also travel to Kuwait and the UAE.
